The Nabi and Sakina Khandaker Graduate Family Award was established to provide financial assistance to a student who is a parent living within a nuclear family completing a graduate level degree in any discipline area of interest, at the University of Regina.

Eligibility

The award will be presented to a University of Regina graduate student who meets the following criteria:
- Pursuing a graduate degree in any program;
- Registered and remains registered in a minimum of six credit hours during the semester the award is presented;
- Remains in good academic standing;
- Must be a parent living in a nuclear family structure that resides in Regina; and
- Demonstrates financial need and two parent status through an application in writing, not to exceed one page. International students need to also include their plans to contribute to Canada.

Notes:
1. The award is open to Canadian or Permanent Residents or International students planning to contribute to Canada; and
2. Nuclear Family definition: Family group consisting of two parents and their children (one or more).
3. Mandatory thank you letter required by the recipient in order to receive the funding.

Will be paid in two installments of $3,000 first installment in the Fall and second in the Winter as long as student continue to meet the above listed eligibility criteria.

Application Information

In addition, students will need to upload the following:

- one page statement demonstrating financial need and two parent status through an application in writing. (Tell us your story as to WHY or the nature of your financial need) International students need to also include their plans to contribute to Canada; and

- UP TO DATE Transcripts, which include CURRENT SEMESTER REGISTRATION. University of Regina Unofficial Transcript titled 'Current Registration & List of Courses (Unofficial Transcript)' found in UR Self Service OR University of Regina Official Transcript from MyCreds. Please refer to the MyCreds | MesCertif learner FAQs for more information on fees and how to register.

IMPORTANT: If you are an entrance student with no grades yet at the U of R, in addition to the unofficial transcript found in UR Self Service or the official transcript from MyCreds, you MUST also provide a copy of your last institution transcript along with the grading key in order to be considered. You must combine these documents into one and upload them.

All of these items are needed for an application to be considered complete.
