From VK to C in 50 Scholarships have been established by an anonymous donor to mark his 50th anniversary in Canada. Arriving here as a refugee, he benefited from the education systems in this country and went on to become a world-class nation builder in his professional life. Turning to philanthropy in this retirement, he is offering scholarships in every province and territory to mark this special occasion and to thank Canada for the opportunities it afforded him. The University of Regina has been selected as the post-secondary institution of choice in Saskatchewan. VK is Velke Kapusany, Slovakia, the donor's birthplace, while C signifies Canada. The Ottawa Community Foundation is please to facilitate this act of generosity from coast to coast to coast.

Eligibility

The Scholarship will be awarded to a University of Regina graduate student who meets the following criteria:
- Entering as a first year (1st, 2nd or 3rd semester only) graduate student at the University of Regina in any Faculty;
- Registered and remains registered in a minimum of six credit hours in the semester the award is presented;
- Is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
- Demonstrates financial need.

Note: Award is renewable to the selected student to a maximum of three additional years, provided they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
-If the recipient does not continue to meet the eligibility requirements, the award may be presented to another student; however the renewable portion of the award will only be made available until funds are depleted.

Application Information

In addition, students will need to upload the following:

- one page written statement demonstrating financial need (Tell us your story as to WHY or the nature of your financial need); and

- UP TO DATE Transcripts, which include CURRENT SEMESTER REGISTRATION. University of Regina Unofficial Transcript titled 'Current Registration & List of Courses (Unofficial Transcript)' found in UR Self Service OR University of Regina Official Transcript from MyCreds. Please refer to the MyCreds | MesCertif learner FAQs for more information on fees and how to register.

IMPORTANT: If you are an entrance student with no grades yet at the U of R, in addition to the unofficial transcript found in UR Self Service or the official transcript from MyCreds, you MUST also provide a copy of your last institution transcript along with the grading key in order to be considered. You must combine these documents into one and upload them.
