Internal Scholarships
The Commonwealth Caribbean Scholarship was established to help facilitate travel and research in the Commonwealth Caribbean region, by providing financial assistance to graduate students at the University of Regina, who are pursuing a Master of Geography.
Eligibility
The scholarship will be presented to a University of Regina graduate student who meets the following criteria:
- Accepted as a fully-qualified graduate student;
- Pursuing a Master of Geography;
- Student must be scheduled to travel before December 31 of the year the scholarship is presented;
- Research must be focused on the Commonwealth Caribbean region;
- Achieved a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 80%;
- Registered and remains registered in a minimum of six credit hours in the term the scholarship is presented; and
- In good academic standing.
Notes:
1. The student will be awarded the scholarship prior to travel and the payment of the scholarship will occur after the travel is completed; and
2. After returning from travel, the awardee must provide proof of travel, such as boarding passes, food receipts, taxi/train receipts, and other costs incurred during time of travel, in order to demonstrate attendance at the research location. Receipts must be submitted electronically to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at Grad.Funding@uregina.ca within one month of travel completion.
Application Information
In addition, students will need to upload the following:
-A short overview (not to exceed one page) of the research project/program;
- A one to two page outline of the research (or course work) to be undertaken, how it relates to the student's degree program;
- A proposed time for travel and the estimated costs are to be included; and
- UP TO DATE Transcripts, which include CURRENT SEMESTER REGISTRATION. University of Regina Unofficial Transcript titled 'Current Registration & List of Courses (Unofficial Transcript)' found in UR Self Service OR University of Regina Official Transcript from MyCreds. Please refer to the MyCreds | MesCertif learner FAQs for more information on fees and how to register.
IMPORTANT: If you are an entrance student with no grades yet at the U of R, in addition to the unofficial transcript found in UR Self Service or the official transcript from MyCreds, you MUST also provide a copy of your last institution transcript along with the grading key in order to be considered. You must combine these documents into one and upload them.
All of these items are needed for an application to be considered complete.
