The Chancellor’s Fellowships were established in 2023 through the generosity of donors in the Chancellor’s Community to recognize two talented graduate students and allow them to pursue their educational goals with reduced financial strain.

Eligibility

The Chancellor’s Fellowships will be awarded to two (2) University of Regina Entering graduate students who meet the following criteria:
-Accepted as a PhD Thesis Student or Master’s Thesis Student, including MAP’s -MFA & PhD Thesis Project (Research Creation) students;
-Has a minimum Incoming average of 85% with demonstrated academic excellence based on past academic results, transcripts, previous awards or scholarships held and distinctions;
-Is registered and remains registered in at least 6 credit hours in the semester the award is presented;
-Admitted as a fully-qualified student.

Note:
-Research potential can be demonstrated by applicants research history, their interest in discovery, the proposed research, its potential contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field and any anticipated outcomes, with indicators such as:
- quality and originality of contributions to research and development;
- relevance of work experience and academic training to field of proposed research;
- significance, feasibility and merit of proposed research;
- judgment and ability to think critically;
- ability to apply skills and knowledge;
- initiative and autonomy;
- research experience and achievements relative to expectations of someone with the applicants’ academic experience;

- Personal characteristics and interpersonal skills can be demonstrated by applicants past professional and relevant extracurricular interactions and collaborations, with indicators such as:
- work experience;
- leadership experience;
- project management including organizing conferences and meetings;
- ability or potential to communicate theoretical, technical or scientific concepts clearly and logically in written and oral formats;
- involvement in academic life;
- volunteerism/community outreach;

Application Information

Note Continuation:
Preference will be given to students with research efforts and potential in an area of focus or priority as set by the University of Regina in its strategic plan;
- Recipients of the Chancellor’s Fellowships will be required to participate in Chancellor Fellowship programming and recruitment initiatives, as well as, agree to be featured in University of Regina promotional campaigns and publications including but not limited to website, social media, print materials and any donor related communications as required;
- This fellowship will be paid over the course of one year (26 bi-weekly payments). The student must be registered full-time to be eligible for the payments;
- The fellowships are available for both domestic and international students on a valid student permit.

In addition, students will need to upload the following:
1) A written statement (up to 500 words) describing their commitment to volunteer work and extracurricular activities and their leadership skills as well as research interests, efforts and potential.
2) The name and contact information of a referee who can speak to your statement about your volunteer work, extracurricular activities, research potential and/or efforts;
3) A resume/CV showcasing personal characteristics and interpersonal skills; and
4) One academic reference letter; and
5) UP to DATE Unofficial Transcripts, from all post-secondary institutions attended, including grading keys. You must combine your transcripts into one document.

All of these items are needed for an application to be considered complete.
