Convocation
University of Regina's 2025 Spring Convocation
Convocation is a significant milestone in an academic journey, marking the start of an exciting new chapter. It’s a time when graduates, faculty, family, and friends come together to celebrate accomplishments.
The convocation ceremony brings together the Chancellor, the University Senate, all graduates, and distinguished guests to honour the accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as honorary degree recipients. The ceremony may also include the presentation of Deans' Medals, University Prizes, and the Governor General’s Silver and Gold Medals.

Guest Information
Are you attending Convocation as a Guest? We understand that Convocation isn't just for the graduates. It's an exciting time for you, too!
Here’s everything you need to know!
The doors open at 12:45 p.m. We ask that you are seated 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony to watch the graduate procession. If you are not seated prior to the opening of the ceremony, you will be asked to wait to be seated by our ushers.
The ceremony is normally two hours long. Plan to stay for the entire ceremony. All graduates are expected to stay until the end of the ceremony out of respect for their fellow graduates and distinguished guests.
Your graduate is responsible for reserving guest tickets. To ensure all graduates can have loved ones present, the number of guest tickets per graduate is limited to two (2).
Please note:
- All guests, including children and infants, must have a ticket due to fire code regulations.
- There is no waitlist for tickets.
- Additional guest tickets are subject to availability
You’re welcome to take as many photos and videos of your graduate as you would like! Just please ensure you remain in your seat during the ceremony. Aisles and stairways must be kept clear, and guests are not permitted on the stage or in the graduate seating area.
Ceremonial Chairs
The three ceremonial chairs shown here were a gift to the University of Regina from Dr. Terence R. McKague, Chancellor Emeritus, whose term as chancellor ran from 1989-1995. The chairs were acquired from Carmichael United Church, Dr. McKague's boyhood place of worship. Also, two podiums, designed and constructed by the University of Regina, complement on stage the three decoratively adorned chairs. This ceremonial furniture is incorporated into all official ceremonial functions.
