Who We Are

A Passion for Learning

At the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), we believe that learning is a lifelong experience and doesn’t start or stop with a degree. To grow and thrive, both personally and professionally, each of us will continue building skills and knowledge across a career and a lifetime. We are an organization built on partnerships and the strength of these partnerships is what drives our ability to deliver relevant, flexible, and accessible post-secondary learning opportunities in Regina, across Saskatchewan and beyond.

Professional, Continuing and Online Education

Continuing Education can mean many things to many different people, depending on where you are in your learning journey.

We are home to undergraduate students who are finding out what a certificate can do for them, whether it's gaining confidence with a shorter credential, adding to their résumé with a concurrent program or finding unique ways to a degree. We're providing access to university studies and western Canadian culture with our English as a Second Language programs. We're helping people advance in their career with skills gained through professional development. We're home to the 100-year-old Conservatory of Performing Arts, weaving rich opportunities for creativity with well-developed curriculum and experienced instructors. We're working hard behind the scenes to bring U of R courses to you where you are, such as online, to colleges throughout Saskatchewan at times that fit your schedule.

Bottom line, we're home to programming and initiatives that bring the University of Regina to you, our learners, whether you're in Regina, Saskatchewan or beyond.

Finding Your Path

We invite you to explore what the Centre for Continuing Education and the University are working on that applies to you. We think you'll be surprised what you'll find!

Meet The Dean

The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) thrives because of the company it keeps. We are an organization built on partnerships and the strength of these partnerships is what drives our ability to deliver relevant, flexible, and accessible post-secondary learning opportunities in Regina, across Saskatchewan and beyond.

Value of Collaboration

Our collaborative efforts take many forms. We play a vital role in the economy as we partner with businesses and community organizations and help them grow by ensuring their employees can develop the skills they need to succeed. Through our professional microcredentials, including professional certificates and microcertificates, people can learn sought-after skills while they work. And when that instruction needs to be tailored for a specific employee group or industry, CCE works alongside those groups to create and provide custom training.

In some instances, our partnerships have been growing for more than 40 years.

Value of Partnerships

One such partnership is with Saskatchewan’s regional colleges. We believe it is one of the most effective ways to ensure aspiring learners can earn certificates, diplomas, and degrees no matter where they live. Everyone deserves that opportunity.

Other partnerships reside internally at the University of Regina. Every day CCE works closely with faculties and research centres and each collaboration is unique. We are exceptionally skilled in instructional design and are often called upon to help transform a program from in-person to online or to develop and deliver new courses and programs that fully engage students in the best possible learning experiences.

Designing Responsive Learning Opportunities

In our design of responsive learning opportunities, we consider our learners to be our partners, too, by putting learners at the centre of our programs. From undergraduate and professional development programs to programming through our Conservatory of Performing Arts and our English language programs, alongside every online course we design, learners take centre stage.

These partnerships do not happen by chance but are strategically built and nurtured by our team at CCE. The work we do is far-reaching and complex, but the results are beyond rewarding. We look forward to continuing to create and sustain opportunities that advance the personal and professional goals of all learners and know that we can Go far, together.

Transforming Learning Experiences

Every day we work closely with faculties and research centres to bring UofR courses and programs to students where they are. We are the UofR home to an exceptional team of instructional graphics and multi-media designers who collaborate with our talented faculty. Together, they move in-person courses online or develop new courses from the ground up to fully engage students in the best possible learning experiences. Plus, we work with the faculties to strategically select courses that bring more complete programs to more communities throughout our province and beyond, breaking down barriers to a U of R education. These partnerships do not happen by chance but are strategically built and nurtured by our team at CCE.

College Avenue Campus

The College Avenue Campus represents a historic heart for the City of Regina and anchors College Avenue. Originally home to the Regina College, the College Building was constructed between 1911 and 1912, in its infancy, survived the devastating Regina Cyclone. The Conservatory and West Tower were added between 1914 and 1916 but all buildings were closed in 2016 due to intense deterioration and lack of accessibility. The restored and renovated building was re-opened in 2018.

After over 100 years of use, the historic campus needed repair to restore it to its former glory. Thanks to the incredible support of the community, the College Avenue Revitalization project made a once impossible vision come to life. The introduction of modern teaching technology, increased building accessibility, upgraded building systems and enhanced energy efficiency have made it a place where all students can learn, grow and connect.

“The collection of buildings is unique in the City and is something that cannot be replaced. They speak to the early years of the City, and the history of education and the arts in our community.” - James J. Youck, P3Architecture, Principle-in-Charge

The University of Regina's College Avenue Campus is now buzzing with activity and continues to tell a rich story of the many generations who have walked its halls. It is home to the Centre for Continuing Education's Conservatory of Performing Arts, professional development programs and administrative offices; the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy; and many priceless pieces of art.
