Government Grants and Loans

Students with permanent disabilities are eligible to access certain student loan and grant programs. There are other supports available to all students that may be of interest to you as well.

  • If you are a student with a permanent disability and eligible for student loans, you may be eligible for the Canada Student Grant for Students with Permanent Disabilities. Students with disability will automatically considered for this grant in their student loan application if you submit documentation of permanent disability. The grant provides up to $4,000 per school year to assist with educational or living costs.
  • If you are a student with a permanent disability and eligible for student loans, you may be eligible for the Canada-Saskatchewan Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Permanent Disabilities. This grant can be used for equipment or technology items like a computer and assistive technology, and services like tutoring and academic strategy sessions. This grant requires a separate application and signature by an accessibility officer. Please book an appointment to discuss.
  • If you are a student with a permanent disability, you may take a reduced course load and be eligible for loans and grants for a longer academic period. For undergraduate students with permanent disability, a reduced course load allows students to take two courses per term instead of three, while still mainitaing full-time status. Please contact an accessibility officer to request a reduced course load letter.

Student Accessibility can only assist with disability-related educational funding applications. We cannot assist with student loan applications. Please book an appointment with an accessibility officer to discuss funding options.
