Zhanle (Gerald) Wang

Ph.D., P.Eng.

Dr. Wang is an Assistant Professor in Electronic Systems Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Regina. He received the BEng degree in Industrial Automation from Hebei Polytechnic University (now North China University of Science and Technology), China, in 2001. He received both MASc and PhD in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of Regina, Canada, in 2012 and 2015 respectively.

His research primarily focuses on: 1) model, control, and integration of distributed energy resources (DER) (e.g., solar, geothermal, electric vehicles, demand response, energy storage, and second-life batteries) into electrical energy systems; and 2) load electrification including heating and transportation. He aims to develop intelligent and integrated energy systems to increase renewable energy integration, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and enhance grid stability. His research applications have been focusing on smart grids, smart homes, microgrids, smart charging, vehicle-to-grid (V2G), charging network development, energy management of SLB, and controlled environment agriculture.
