Naïve: (Toxic 4)
16mm film, 5 minutes, 2003 (additional image 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
This wordless film mixes ray-o-grams of the staples removed from my body after my surgery with my son playing piano. Silent photographs show me after the surgery, regret and pain permeating the image, remind us about how we do things without knowing the consequences. I have never been less healthy than these post-surgery years, and as the results for cancer were later discovered to be negative (although I am assured that it was just a matter of time), I question my decision to have gone through it all.
