Courses currently taught

Fall 2026 - MATH 335 Introduction to Differential Geometry
This course is an introductory study of curves and surfaces in three-dimensional space, with particular emphasis on the differential invariants that arise naturally in their analysis. Topics include curvature and related geometric quantities, as well as their role in describing the local and global properties of curves and surfaces.

Winter 2027 - MATH 231 Euclidean Geometry
The course is an introduction to elementary plane geometry, with particular emphasis on mathematical reasoning and proof. The foundations of geometry, laid down by Euclid more than two thousand years ago, will be discussed in the first part of the course. In the second part, coordinate methods will be introduced as a powerful tool for studying geometric concepts. Finally, the course will explore conic sections and their fundamental properties.

Winter 2027 - MATH 401 Matrix Lie Groups
The course provides an elementary introduction to the theory of Lie groups, focusing on matrix Lie groups, that is, groups of invertible square matrices under the operation of matrix multiplication. Within this concrete framework, we develop the fundamental aspects of Lie theory, including Lie algebras and their relationship with Lie groups, the exponential map, representation theory, and semisimple Lie algebras.
