Research interests:
Plant Ecology, traditional plant uses.

I am interested in native plants and their traditional uses. Along with Elders and community members I develop booklets and teaching tools on plant medicines. We have a Native Prairie located next to the First Nations University of Canada, Regina campus, composed of native grass and wildflower species. The area serves as an educational tool to promote an understanding of the traditional uses of plants by First Nations people and to help discover plants that are native to the area.

Videos with Elders
These videos were filmed during the spring, summer, and fall of 2009 with Elder Betty McKenna and Elder Walter. The videos were realized under the supervision of Dr. Carrie Bourassa and Dr. Fidji Gendron. The videos show different plants during the growing season, how to recognize them, and how they are used by First Nations and Métis people. Plants collected during these walks are now on display in the Medicine Room at the First Nations University of Canada.
