Prairie Universities Biological Symposium
What is PUBS?
The Prairie Universities Biological Symposium (PUBS) is an annual conference held by university students at a designated prairie university in Alberta, Manitoba, North Dakota, or Saskatchewan. This long standing tradition started at the University of Manitoba 40 years ago and has continued to provide an excellent forum for undergraduate and graduate students to present their research to their peers. PUBS 2007 – the 41st annual symposium – will be held February 22-24, 2007 at the University of Regina. PUBS regularly attracts more than 100 students from the Prairie Provinces to the hosting university. Conference topics include molecular biology, physiology, botany, zoology, ecology, paleobiology, conservation biology, and environmental biology. Students conducting research in related disciplines will be attending as well, especially given that many research projects are interdisciplinary in nature. Thus, this symposium is open to students studying biochemistry, biology, chemistry, engineering, geography, geology, and kinesiology.
