Re-Construction
super-8 film, 3.5 minutes, 1998, 1999, 2003
Regina is large enough for significant architecture to be built, and small enough that each of these constructions stands out as a significant event. In my childhood, the erection of the government funded Centre of the Arts stage was spoken of laughingly as the city's white elephant, taking years to complete. When this building was once again covered with scaffolding for renovations, the talk of the early days was very telling of the nature of community memory.
