Location: RIC 208
Abstract: A lecture at the 3rd and 4th year undergraduate level introducing the basics of the quark model. The topic is a very rich one and we will only have a chance to scratch the surface of this fascinating topic. You will be introduced to:
- Gell-Mann and Zweig's SU(3) constituent quark model.
- Color, the gluon, and confinement.
- Evidence in favor of quarks and gluons from electron scattering experiments.
Speaker: Dr. Garth Huber, Department of Physics
