"Transformation"

This is a dance video around a performance by Tanya Dahms who is a dancer as well as a biochemist. She received a Saskatchewan Arts Board grant to create this performance which includes video projections, a thereman, and voice. I was only able to shoot one rehearsal in the summer of 2007, using two cameras. Dr. June Madeley assisted me with videotaping during a visit she had to Regina from St. John. Since the amount of coverage we had was limited, I made editing decisions that took us away from it being a straight forward document to being something that reflected the themes of the dance such as the transformation of the organic into the mechanical. I used repetition and loops to make machines of the dancers.
