Small Town Coffee Stories
16mm film, series of shorts totaling 20 minutes, 1994 (additional image 1)
With a contract from SCN, I spent a three weeks in the summer of 1993 driving to small towns in southern Saskatchewan, most of which I'd never stopped in before, and sat down in their coffee shop with a tape recorder and talked to people about life in those communities. I later returned with cinematographer James Whittingham and shot films to correspond (loosely) to those stories. I made a total of 12 of these vignettes, with varying running times, totaling 20 minutes. All shot on 16mm and posted on video.
