"She Said, vol.9: Am I The Eggman"
digital animation, 67 seconds, 2008
This piece began with this story about the lazy guy who is so self centred that he takes every bit of work suggested to him as an attack. I see this often in real life and feel it myself sometimes. I used eggs as the subject and then came up with the idea of the visual being a very slow motion image of me being hit in the face by an egg. I had Margaret throw a dozen eggs at me, but she missed most of the time, and when she did hit, the egg didn't break right. I rethought the idea decided to use an egg exploding in the microwave, but this was too difficult to capture due to the texture on the oven door. That image IS used in this animation, which is an After Effects animation using my own hands, feet, and body. The walrus was an afterthought, borrowed directly from the reworked Walrus and the Carpenter animation I did a few weeks before.
