This is closer to a true story than I usually come, although it is subjective enough that no one else would remember it the same as I did. This issue of ideological differences tests how blind love can be, but eyes are eventually opened. In reality, the "them" of the story were witches one day and homosexuals another day, but "they" could be anyone. When we start needed to censor our conversations with our loved ones, there is serious trouble, which is why this one is placed next to the break up, when hope is gone.
