Cake
super-8, 3.5 minutes, 2007 (additional images 1, 2)
Two of the things that give me great pleasure are filmmaking and baking. I do often suggest that baking is more satisfying because people respond immediately and honestly and the effort is measured in minutes or hours, rather than days, weeks, or years. This is the first time I bring them together. I resisted doing a film in my kitchen because I've seen too many such films look dim, soft, and uninteresting. Therefore, for this, my entry into the seventh annual One Take Super 8 Event, was a personal challenge to create a well exposed, in-focus film inside a dimly lit kitchen. I used the repeating strategy to get William to do my soundtrack again. Margaret and I spoke with Alex Rogalski shortly after this event.
