Ode to Chris Gallagher: the snow shovel
HD Video , 80 seconds, colour, 2012
Chris Gallagher was a film professor of mine in the mid-1980s. In truth, we didn't get along all that well (and that was certainly partially my fault) but I was honestly very impressed and regretful of my disrespect when I saw his feature length experimental film "Undivided Attention", created while he lived in Regina and completed just before he moved back to Vancouver. This video recreates one shot from that film which has always stayed with me. I referenced Gallagher's work in some of my Regina films. He had a profound understanding of point of view which I often struggle with. VIDEO
