Matchbox Weekend
super-8, 3.5 minutes, colour, 2015
This film premiered at the One Take Super 8 Event in Regina in June 2015. It is a parody of Jean Luc Godard's "Weekend" and features an uninterupted tracking shot of a traffic jam. On a suggestion from Ken Wilson, this was shot using toy cars. Lacking toy lions and llamas, I included dinosaurs with the assumption that had Godard had access to dinosaurs for his film, he'd have used them himself. As vaguely suggested in the image above, the film was shot on a rotating disc with a static background suspended from a post in the middle of the disc. Cars move past the camera rather than the camera tracking past the cars. The film was entirely animated on super-8 colour film.
