Grain, Until We Part
16mm/HD, 2014, 2.5 minutes
With this film, I attempt to consider the raw material of cinema, the roll of film. As an uncut 100’ of 16mm containing shots of cow skulls bleached white by the sun, the study references the death knells of the celluloid form. The title makes reference to my long time union with film. Like getting married and vowing “until death do us part”, this title is in denial of the word, and presence of, death.
Part of the ongoing "Grain" series of films, funded by the Canada Council.
