Gerald Saul Film 201 Found Footage
SD Video, 55 seconds, colour, 2012
This is the very first time I edited 16mm film, sometime in the first few weeks of Film 201 in 1984. We were to use rewinds, a viewer, and a splicer to create something from the racks of 16mm prints. We could not listen to the audio. My intention, so far as I can recall, was to work with the rhythms of the teeter totter graphic and the heads -- to what end I don't know. The sound is the optical tracks of those film clips and I wouldn't have heard it until the project was complete, so actually has no intention behind it. I found a vhs of this film that I must have made i the mid to late 80s. I wish I'd had more of the man nodding, I like this non-committal response which fits every occasion. I didn't put a new copyright date on it because I didn't make any changes to it. VIDEO
