a film/video essay

HD Video, 65 seconds , colour, 2012

I saw a new film, "Providence" by Winnipeg filmmaker Scott Fitzpatrick in which he printed with a computer printer onto clear film. I'd tried this years before and it hadn't worked so I'd abandoned the idea. However, Fitzpatrick told me that he simply used a laser printer and I realized that my prior attempt was with an ink jet printer. I taped 10 inch pieces of clear 16mm leader to sheets of paper and printed onto them with good success. I chose for some text, a Splice Magazine essay I'd written about the brilliant Regina filmmaker Jason Britski. The film is then run through a projector, with the soundtrack playing, flipped front to back and then flipped right to left digitally to create four variations.   VIDEO
