Rerun

Rerun began as a research program designed to generate an archive with which users could extract easily manageable video components and use them to build collage-style moving images. In 2011, my SSHRC application was unsuccessful but led to further development in 2012 when I hired MFA graduate student Robert Hillstead to assist me in testing some of the methodologies proposed in that application. My discovery was that there were multiple technical problems and other user-interface problems. Based on this outcome, I completely re-evaluated the strengths of the work created and the practical learning outcomes of moving forward with the research. The third incarnation, which I again sought a SSHRC development grant for, was to explore ways in which the internet might be used to simulate the community-building qualities inherent in the newspaper comics page. Some of this work features my Canister the Robot character.

This is a research project which I was never really able to fully develop. I have decided to explore other topics and will shelf these ideas... for now.
