Professor Delusia the Nochturnalist
This character, who usually appears silently in films but has a tendency to monologue in written and comic appearances, first appeared as a Melies-inspired magician wearing, most commonly, a white lab coat and a large straw hat. Thirteen films were made in the initial three month Youtube run, but the inspired name and easy wardrobe made the character convenient to reuse.
Beyond these first films where Delusia was simply a magician, he came to stand in for unethical science. Eventually he evolved into a symbol of deception and manipulation, twisting the minds of others to his own purposes.
