Super-8, 2024, single roll (18fps, 3:20), colour

Collaboration with William Bessai-Saul

Created for the Regina One Take Super 8 Event in 2024

William and I both got rolls of super-8 film. We then collected a lot of animation objects, puppets, materials, mirrors, and other junk together on the kitchen table, set up lights, and sat on opposite sides of the table beside our cameras and began to animate. We would move our stuff then announced our readiness so that we could take the frames at the same time. We were in the shot of the other person's camera so we should appear more or less stationary - an animator always taking the frame but never animating. We had objects move across the table so that they could begin as close ups on one camera and move to being close ups in the other camera. Our intention was to show the two rolls side by side. However....

As the evening came to an end and we were trying to finish the rolls, William's roll did not finish. The camera, which we had borrowed, was not working. His film was ruined. It came back from the lab blank.

As both films contain animation for both of us, it only seemed right that the remaining roll have both of our names on it.
