Streamflow in Southwestern Saskatchewan

Objective

Data

  1. Daily streamflow (m3/sec) for 16 stations (Tables 1); one file of daily data per station
  2. Topographic maps (1:250K and 1:50K) for southwestern Saskatchewan (Map Library)
  3. Daily precipitation data from assignment #1

Instructions

  1. Click here to download the file 327data2.zip which contains all the daily stream discharge data for the 16 stations. After you save this file to a directory on your hard drive and unzip it, there will be one file for each hydrometric station. The file names are the station numbers. The data are in tables with headings, so they should be self explanatory and can be directly loaded into spreadsheet software because the columns are space delimited.

  2. Analyze and discuss the spatial and temporal distribution of streamflow in southwestern Saskatchewan, using daily data from some or all of the 16 stations on six streams. For example, analyses could include (but are not limited to) storm or mean monthly (annual) hydrographs, comparisons among streams or among stations on a stream, and streamflow in relation to the precipitation data from assignment #1.
