Another should have / could have game for the Sluggers. On the positive side of things, our bats were on fire. We lit the Crunch up for 20 runs!!! The 1.000 batting average of Randy is an amazing stat that will hopefully see more of next season (or in the post-season -- cross your fingers). There were some uncharacteristic defensive errors that let the Crunch amass a 21-18 lead at the mid of the seventh inning. Then the painful story begins ... of with two runs scored and one out I'm on third base ... the run that could have tied the game. I figured I'd cause a distraction at third so that Sarah would make it safe to first ... I achieved that goal. I wasn't prepared for the run down (although I have beaten a few of them in the past) and I got put out only 60 feet from pay dirt. ARGGH. In hockey the saying goes "Never pass the puck up the middle, use the boards" I should have applied this to base running ... I need some redemption.
In any case, I hope you all had a fun season. I know I did. We improved substantially over last season and the potential for next year looks promising. And we can't count our playoff chances off yet.
