The following are a sample of individual incomes from two nations. Each nation uses a different unit of currency, and the currencies are not of equal value. Your task is to determine which country has the greatest amount of income inequality. To do this carry out the following steps for each country:
· Create a quintile table showing the percent of total income earned by each quintile, from lowest to highest.
· Also calculate the average income for each quintile, and display this in the same table. (Hand in a neat table for each country. You can also hand in your rough work.)
· Calculate the ratio of earnings of the highest to the lowest quintile.
· Once you have done these calculations, state in which country the income distribution is most unequal. If there is no difference in income inequality between the two countries, state that. In either case, you must provide evidence to back up your statement.
