Mathematics 110
Calculus I

Course Resources
This is a summary of the resources available for this course. Much of this was sent out to the class email list, however some of you have reported not getting these emails.

Math Help Centre
The department runs a free drop-in help centre in CW 308 for a variety of classes. For the current schedule, please visit
http://www.uregina.ca/science/mathstat/for-students/help-centre.html

PreCalculus Seminars
A series of seminars on Algebra, Functions, and Trigonometry are being held on September 12th and 13th. You must register in advance, and there is a $5 fee. For information, see
http://www.uregina.ca/science/mathstat/events/2014/09/precalculus.html

Campion Help Centre
Campion College has a free Math/Stats Help Centre available to all U of R students. For hours, visit
http://www.campioncollege.ca/academics/academic-support-services

Textbook WebAssign
For those of you using the textbook, you can log into the optional online WebAssign section for this class. I don't use this myself, but I know some students in the past have found the resources (eg video lectures) useful. To log in, you'll need the class key as well as your own key from your textbook.

Khan Academy Video Lecture
If you like additional explanations in the video format, past students have found Khan's Academy useful. These are free youtube videos on a variety of subjects, including ours. (I would warn against spending too much time on these sites. You can waste a lot of time watching videos rather than doing exercises yourself... only use these to get specific help on specific topics). You can see the available playlists at
http://www.youtube.com/user/khanacademy/playlists

Lamar Course Notes
This site offers a set of free concise course notes for a variety of Math classes. Again, there is a TON of material on this site, be very specific in your search:

PreCalculus Diagnostic Test
Please complete this test before Wednesday September 10th and hand in the last page with your name and answers in class. While you will not receive grades for this test, it will help you determine your level of prepardness for Math 110. Note: For the final 8 questions, complete those in Section B (Math 110).
Answers:
You can now download the answer key for the diagnostic test. It also includes a topic list with terms to google if you need additional review. Note the the section on "recommendations" does not apply to you. We will be using the results of this test to fine tune that section. However, if you did have severe difficulties with this test, you likely need to consider altneratives to making sure your PreCalculus background is sufficient.

The Final Exam

Your final exam is written on Wednesday Dec 17th, 2-5 PM, in GYM II.
It is comprehensive - covering all major topics!
You are allowed to bring an approved non-graphing calculator.
No "formula sheet" or other notes are permitted.

For review purposes, you can work through the following set of old final exams:
Sample Final Exams with Solutions
On top of those, you should of course use your course notes, online questions,
your own quizzes and midterms, and the text and lab manual for study. As you can see,
there's a lot of material here - your best use of it is to start early and spread it out,
try to avoid the temptation of a last minute "cram" for this exam.

Office Hours:
Dec 5th: 1-3 PM Dec 8, 9, 10, 15, 16: 10-12 AM.

Optional Review Class:
Tue Dec 16th, 12-2 PM in room CL 128
