Dear Stat 351 in Fall 2009,

The textbook that we have previously used for Stat 351 by Allan Gut, "An Intermediate Course in Probability" has just gone out of print and is being replaced by a second edition.

Fortunately, the second edition is available as an electronic resource through the U of R library.

If you are accessing the internet from a U of R computer located ON CAMPUS then the chapters are available online through SpringerLink.

Of course, students should be aware of the University's Terms of Use of Electronic Resources.

Access from OFF CAMPUS is also possible through the university's proxy. From the library catalogue search for "springerlink" and follow the instructions to connect.

Once at Springerlink do a search for "allan gut intermediate probability" and you should be able to follow the links.

I realize many students already have the printed first edition, so I will refer to both editions in class and for homework.
