The paragraphs should explain that logistic data obeys the equation (dy/dt)(1/y)=k(M-y), thus the quantity (dy/dt)(1/y) is a linear function of y. They should also mention how they can estimate (dy/dt) given data. Finally they should say that if a plot of (dy/dt)(1/y) vs. y yeilds a line then its slope will be -k (they could also say that the y-intercept is kM and the x-intercept is M). These are all the elements that I was looking for in the paragraph assignment.
