From September 18th until September 24rd, Michael was in Guanajuato, Mexico, for the First Joint Meeting of the Canadian and Mexican Mathematical Societies. The conference took place at the Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas (CIMAT) which is located next to the ruins of the Mina Valenciana and the Mina de Guadalupe just up the hill to the north of town of Guanajuato. Fortunately, there was enough time between mathematics sessions to explore both the city and the mountainside near CIMAT!
