We rented a canoe from a local guy (we brought our own tent) and on Aug. 15th we hit the river, paddling south. Here is a map of the area -- we canoed right off the south edge of this map. We left it open whether we would do 1 night or 2 of camping. Quickly the Inuit Gods decided to hit us with solid light rain, and after a little while we decided to wait out the rain under cover of this old abandoned ship. Later our B&B guy said that two local entrepreneurs had bought it for $1 and were going to do something touristy with it ... eventually.
