Issues, Questions to Consider
- After the battles of Salamis and Plataea, what were the military
challenges of meeting the continuing Persian threat?
- Why was the Delian League created? What was its purpose?
- How was the league organized? How did the structure of the
League evolve?
- How can we characterize the growth of the Athenian "empire"?
- What was Pericles' military strategy at the beginning of the
Peloponnesian War?
- Make sure you are able to provide a general overview of the progress of
the Peloponnesian War.
- What are different components of a Greek temple (i.e., both structure
and decoration)?
- Make sure you are able to give a brief history of the Parthenon (its
beginnings, when and why it was built etc.)
