University of Regina National Occupational Health & Safety Week Presentation: A 1-hour safety presentation open to all U of R faculty & staff.
Sponsored by your Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
Speaker: Duane Janiskevich, Gripping Insights Consulting Inc.
Abstract:
While renovating his house in 2008 Duane placed a premium on time rather than "safety" which resulted in the amputation of three fingers and the thumb on his dominant hand. Duane was overcome by guilt knowing that in his haste to "get the job done" he cut a dangerous corner that caused his injury. Realizing that the mental trauma and anguish far surpassed the physical recovery of his injury he began to look for ways to warn others of the "close calls" or "near misses" they may have ignored. "Stop Cutting Corners - Safety is in Your Hands" is an opportunity for reflection and chance for improvement.
