Prerequisite: Participants are asked to complete the Chemical & Laboratory Safety Online Training and Biosafety Level 1 Online Training prior to attending the workshop. (You must request enrolment in the online courses http://www.uregina.ca/hr/hse/safety-training/Email-Form.html )
Course Objective:
This training course is for anyone who works unsupervised with biological substances in a U of R laboratory.
Including:
- your rights and responsibilities
- the UR Biosafety Program
- Risk Group 1 handling, decontamination & waste procedures
- spill response & emergency procedures
Who should attend: All employees (faculty and staff), visitors, and undergraduate and graduate students who manage or work with biological materials and/or organisms at the U of R. ** Does not include those who do not cultivate, intentionally collect, or extract biological materials or organisms from water, soil, or plant samples**
Complimentary courses available: Depending on the laboratory you will be working in, you may also need to enroll in Autoclave Training.
