Course Objective:
To provide participants with an understanding of the University of Regina's policies and procedures regarding work in laboratories where chemicals are used.
What you will learn:
The components of the Chemical and Laboratory Safety Program, including
• How to do a laboratory inspection
• The responsibilities of Laboratory Managers
• Basic laboratory safety
• Laboratory waste procedures
Who should attend:
This course is mandatory for all employees, (faculty and staff) and graduate students who manage or work in a laboratory at the U of R.
How you get trained:
The training for this course consists of two parts.
The first part is a course offered through URCourses, and each person requiring Chemical and Laboratory Safety Training must complete this online course and pass the exam with a grade of at least 80%. Email health.safety@uregina.ca to register for the online course.
The second part is a practical workshop consisting of spill response training, emergency procedures and chemical storage information. There is no exam for the workshop. Register for this workshop below. This workshop is being held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.
