Parable

16mm film, 4 minutes, 1991 (additional image 1)

This film is constructed from layers of photocopy collages with characters stamped on from hand carved wooden shapes. Two small animals are lured away from their honest lives in the (back)woods to the dark caves where fun abounds. In the end, they cannot go home. The film is book ended with two people, myself and Brett Carson Bell, talking in a café as I explain the impossible to recognise parable of the story, that being of the danger of moving to Toronto. I have lost many friends to that city, generally they never move back. Winner of best animated production, Saskatchewan Showcase, 1991.
