Mr. Saul and the Society of Creative Anachronism

TEXT:

Against my better judgement, this week my family attended a medieval combat demonstration presented by an organization calling themselves the society of creative anachronisms. Well, in my day, this sort of play fighting was called "cowboys and Indians" and no one needed a judge to tell us who won, we knew that before we started. The deception behind such creative bouts begins to suggest, in impressionable minds less sophisticated than my own, that the outcome of a conflict is not predetermined. I choose to live in the safety and comfort of today where no action of the individual can possibly upset the inevitable events of the future.
