Young artists like to imaging themselves free of all social constraints. I believe this is true some of the time, maybe half. That is a lot. However, the lines you might cross are many and they could get you arrested at airports or shuned by your friends and family. You must also be a professional, at least publicly. You must talk the talk and walk the walk, otherwise no one will take you seriously.
