Fahrenheit Five Zero Zero

HD Video,2 minutes , colour, 2012

Everyone loves seeing film melt in the projector when it jams. It bubbles and twists. I used a revered lens to focus in on the small 16mm frames while I heated and burned the frames. With the metal clips holding them on only the bottom, they generally twist quickly and in doing so, move out of the limited focal range due to the limitations of this method in terms of depth of field. The title obviously refers to Fahrenheit 451, which refers to the temperature that paper ignites. The idea of burning films is more painful to me than burning books. Film melts at 500 degrees. VIDEO
