short bio

I was born and raised in France, close to the German border, in the city of Strasbourg. I studied first at the Université de Strasbourg (then Université Robert Schuman), where I was trained in law (including one year in Spain, at the Universitat de Barcelona) and in political science, obtaining an LL.B. and a B.A. in 1997.  I moved to Paris where I received in 1998 an M.A. in political science, specializing in Latin American Societies, from the Institut des Hautes Etudes de l'Amérique Latine (IHEAL), Université Sorbonne Nouvelle de Paris III

My Ph.D. dissertation focused on the dynamics of European cross-border public action in comparative perspective.  It was defended in 2005, and was revised for publication as L’Europe au défi de ses frontières : expériences rhénane et pyrénéenne.  Institutionnally, this Ph.D. was based on three European pillars:  the main one was the Groupe de Sociologie Politique Européenne (GSPE), a unit from the Conseil National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS);  the second one was the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, since my Ph.D. was a European co-supervision;  the third one was the European Doctoral College

In 2005, I went to Victoria, British Columbia, where I was a post-doctoral fellow in the School of Public Administration.  I am currently working at the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (JSGS) as an associate professor.
