The unit weights are different according to the importance
of the underlying objectives. The course is designed to educate students
about business and technology. We feel that the first two units prepare
students for action. Students are informed about the Internet and business
in the first two units. However, the second two units show action. Unit
3 and 4 allow students the chance to apply what they have learned about
the Internet and business. These units include new knowledge, however are
a reflection of what is learned throughout the course. Therefor, unit 3
and 4 are worth more than units 1 and 2.

Participation/ Businesslike Attitude - Throughout
the E-Business course students should be expected to develop an understanding
of acceptable behaviour. Students should be able to do more than know what
this behaviour is, they should be able to show what they know is acceptable.
Teachers must remember that attitude and behaviour is a progression and
to evaluate accordingly. Participation is important because, we feel that
if students participate in discussion and activities they are engaged in
learning.
-
In-class Assignments - The E-Business course should be activity based.
We feel that this course is best learned by doing. There are should be
several in-class assignment and activities throughout the course. The assignments
should be a good reflection of the learning that takes place throughout
the course.
-
Exams - As mentioned above, the course should be activity based. Therefor,
there should be very few exams. However, there is some very important content
that students must show knowledge of.
-
Presentations - Presentations are an important part of a course like
E-Business. E-Business is about communication, communication for the business
person. Students leaving E-Business should have effective communication
skills. Presentations are a chance for the teacher to evaluate student
communication skills.
-
LAP - The Lap is an important part of the course. The Lap is a chance
for students to learn related material to the course, without teacher instruction.
In the "real world" people don’t have teachers to show them everything.
The Lap prepares students to think and work independently, as they would
in the real world. However, there are about 8 activities in the Lap, that
is about 1% per activity overall.
