What's New
This entire
site is new and I am very excited about having, for the first time,
a site that is my own.
There are two
major features of this site that I would like to draw to your attention.
First of all you will have noticed the Integration icon on my home
page. Please go to that link. Everything at the Integration link
represents work that I have engaged in with my colleagues, Nancy
Browne, Elizabeth Cooper (both in the Faculty of Education) and
Harley Weston (from the Department
of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Regina.)
We have tried to organize our integration work into categories that
best fit the type of integration. We have conducted research in
this field, taught classes together in integrated ways, planned
and implemented integration experiences for preservice teachers
and for school children, and we have written about and presented
on this work locally, nationally, and internationally. We feel we
have a solid foundation in this field and we would like to share
what we have learned with colleagues around the world. We would
also welcome your input and feedback. So please e-mail us with your
ideas.
The second
feature of my site that I would like to draw to your attention is
the link to my courses. In the Fall of 2003 I will be teaching my
first totally online class--one of a series of graduate Education
classes in Information and Communictaion Technology. This website
will provide anyone with an overview of the content blocks
for this class. The students who are registered in this class in
the Fall 2003 semester will be able to read the entire content of
each block with password access. In addition to this site for content
storage, the students will also participate in a parallel WebCT
EC&I 832 course which will house the Discussions Forum, Chat
Rooms, Calendar, and Private Mail (among other WebCT features).
Also, the students and I will participate in WebTrain--an interactive
synchronous two-way audio and video experience.
There is also
a link to the Mathematics Education homepage. This page, which is
shared by all faculty teaching in the Mathematics Education subject
area, is housed on our Education server. My major responsibility
with the Mathed site is to create the links on the homepage and
to take care of all work related to Elementary Mathematics Education.
The Secondary Mathematics Education classes and links are the responsibility
of Dr. Rick Seaman, the Secondary Mathematics specialist.
