Contact Office: Education Building ED436.8 Address: Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science Academic & Industrial Career Dr. Lei Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Regina. She completed her MSc degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Durham University (UK) in 2006, and her PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Brunel University (UK) in 2012. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Zhang worked in the UK as a hardware engineer and consultant in the UK from 2006 to 2013. She is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists in Canada (APEGS), a registered Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the British Engineering Council, and a registered European Engineer (Eur ING) with the European Federation of National Engineering Associations. She is passionate about teaching, research and innovation. Research Interests Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Artificial Neural Networks, Spiking Neural Networks, Computational Neuroscience, Cognitive Computing, Brain Stimulation, Hardware Acceleration, Field Programmable Gates Arrays, Non-destructive Testing, Ultrasound Testing, Pipeline inspection. A bit more about me: I started my academic career at the University of Regina in November 2013. It has been a rather fulfilling path to keep growing and help my students to grow. I am passionate about teaching and research. I enjoy life-long learning and personal development. I am enthusiastic to help my students to develop a successful career, achieve personal excellence and enjoy a fulfilling life. I likes philosophy, nature, culture and traveling. I am fascinated about human cognitive function and psychological behaviors. I have been working together with my research team to design bio-inspired Artificial Neural Network for fast computing and power efficient Artificial Intelligence (AI). I am recruiting graduate students who is self-motivated to challenge and extend their potentials, and has genuine interest in research.
