The University of Regina Turns 50 This Year

U of R 50th Anniversary LogoWe’re Inviting You To Join The Celebration!

2024 marks our 50th Anniversary as an independent university (although our roots as Regina College date back more than a century!). Today’s U of R, along with our federated colleges – Campion College, Luther College, and First Nations University of Canada - offers world-class, post-secondary education to more than 17,000 students and, with more than 90,000+ alumni, our graduates are making a positive difference in Saskatchewan and around the world.

We’re marking this historic anniversary with a special 50th Anniversary Info Hub that celebrates the University’s history of groundbreaking research, student success, and our commitment to our community with interactive articles and the chance for you to share your own memories.

And be sure to check out the 50th Anniversary Events Calendar. We have lined up events and activities to celebrate throughout the year and you’re invited.

Let’s go far, together.

Fuel the Future: Support What Matters Most to You

For 50 years, the University of Regina has been empowering students, advancing research, and creating opportunities for a brighter future. In celebration of our milestone anniversary, we’re inviting alumni and supporters to give back to the faculty or program that inspires you.

Your gift—whether it’s for scholarships, cutting-edge research, community programs, or travel grants—goes directly to what matters most to you. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference in the lives of our students and the communities they’ll go on to serve.

Learn by Doing, Together

We believe there is no better teacher than experience.

This belief led us to pioneer the first co-operative education program in Western Canada more than half a century ago. Our history of providing hands-on learning opportunities has given our institution decades of insight, allowing us to fine-tune our programs and offerings so that students reap the rewards in the real world. Our students enjoy plentiful opportunities to gain experience in both paid and volunteer positions, resulting in career-ready graduates who find work fast.

We know that learning happens best by doing.

Strengthening Connections

Honouring the Past, Together

The University of Regina and its federated colleges are on Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 —  the territories of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda peoples, and the homeland of the Michif/Métis nation.

We recognize that, as an institution founded by settlers, we benefit from being on this land. We are grateful for the privilege to learn, teach, and work here. We demonstrate our commitment to reconciliation by incorporating Indigenous knowledge and world views in our research, teaching, and studies to ensure that there are increased economic, social, and creative opportunities for current and future generations. It is our responsibility to strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities and build a more inclusive future.
